A typewriter of
the 21st century.

Personal project: Typen is a writing app
I designed and bootstrapped to develop.
Adis hired me as a developer for his product Typen. He communicated very well and co-ordinated with me whenever needed. He has good design skills that helped us in building the application. I really liked working with him and would be happy to work with him again.

Product strategy and design
I tried to turn a computer into a typewriter of the 21st century. Word processing is probably the most iconic thing about computers, and there are all kinds of writing apps, but I didn't find any which combine features such as customization of the look (nobody wants a bright white screen at midnight or when writing a sci-fi book), distraction-free mode, and online storage of text which helps user archive and organize their work into many folders and drawers. I designed the product and hired a developer to build it and launch it, and then I designed ads and advertised it on Facebook.
There was more than 2000 sign ups in 2 months after launching the product, and there was a lot of positive feedback on product's design and features, including a professional dramaturge thanking me for making a product like this. However, retention rate was low and cost of maintenance was high in terms of customer support and development, so I discontinued it to focus on freelancing. I learned a lot about the difficulty of finding a marketing message after the product has been built and importance of continuous support to the users and customers.
